This custom-built family home on Saratoga Lake incorporates family history with the splendor of the surrounding Adirondacks. Much of the original cabin the family’s grandfather built in 1955 is still visible in the home. It starts in the mudroom, which has cubbies made from reclaimed wood of the original structure. Passing through the mudroom takes you into the open-plan den flanked by an impressive custom fireplace framed in granite. Every house floor features oversized windows spanning the length of the open-plan rooms and offers views of the Lake. Behind the main seating area lies a recreation space with a card table, pool table, and wet bar.
On the second floor lies the spacious great room with red oak floors, cream nickel gap-paneled walls, and impressive 24-foot ceilings. Another custom fireplace with walnut doors and a granite hearth is on one end of the great room. Next to the great room is a temperature-controlled wine room and tasting area. Walking through the dining area brings you to the bright, welcoming kitchen, which features marble and onyx backsplash, a Quartzite countertop on the island, and Thermador appliances. A butler’s pantry lies off the kitchen. Open the Dutch walnut doors to see antiquated marble countertops and tile backsplash, incorporating pictures of the family’s pets. Past the great room lies a customized cigar room with a built-in climate-controlled humidor decked out in walnut on the coffered ceiling, walls, and cabinets, paired against slate flooring with oak inlays. A guest suite rounds out the second floor.
A second guest suite on the third floor is separated from the master suite wing by a loft looking down on the great room below. The expansive primary suite features his and hers walk-in closets, a primary bedroom with views of the Lake, and a master bath with a large double bowl vanity highlighting a center stack of cabinets over drawers with coordinating mirror surround.
